Many of our customers use us to make a journey break while travelling along the A35. They enjoy the relaxed atmosphere of the café where David will always do his best to adapt the menu to your needs if required – including those on a gluten-free diet.

We believe in good, fresh, simple, local food cooked while you wait. For breakfast (served all day): free range eggs from a field just up the road, bacon and sausages hand made by our local butcher, who personally selects his animals from Devon farms.

Add fresh bread or toast and a good cup of tea or coffee …

At lunchtime try home-made soup, Devon pasties, omelette or a ciabatta or toasted sandwich. Cheeses come from West Country dairy farms. Just a snack? Any time you can have a slice of home-baked cake, a toasted teacake or of course the traditional Devon cream tea.

A Shop of Surprises
Our little shop could be a department store in miniature. First the off-licence, with draught and bottled ciders, real ales, country wines and liqueurs. Then the deli: jams, pickles, honey, biscuits, clotted cream, ice cream, eggs and cheeses, all locally made. Next the garden shop from plant food to hand tools, bird food and feeders. We stock a number of carefully selected gardening items that only score well at the best in test consumer reviews, currently, we stock a number of leaf blowers and several well-rated lawn mowers  The gift shop: fudge, tableware, cards etc. And finally the bookshop to stock your shelves at discount prices.
